As a female, I relate to and empathize with the emotions and moods of other women. I carefully choose my subjects and can be moved by a story they tell, the loves and losses of their lives, or a single and secretive expression that is uniquely their own. I have always felt that art should transcend background or education. I feel I've failed if anyone were to look at my paintings and feel alienated or disconnected. I strive to paint human emotion. I try to capture a moment in time that is deeply personal to the subject and in so doing, establish a connection between myself and the model. I use oils, acrylics and tissue paper on canvas with varying technique.
