About Juliette:
Born in Costa Rica in 1976 and since an avid world traveler, this young artist uses her traveling experiences, and her Spanish and French heritage as the palette for her magnificently colorful and whimsical art.
Along with her large family of four sisters and two brothers, Juliette spent her childhood moving from country to country and state to state, each place adding lasting impressions and memories and opening her eyes to the amazing canvas the world had to offer. With six siblings struggling to stand out and keep their head above water, Juliette found that distinction in her ability to draw and paint.
As early as the age of five, Ms. Belmonte's mother, a professional artist for over 40 years, saw the talent in her young daughter and encouraged her talent with many classes, and hours of personal training. Some of Juliette's fondest memories are sitting in her mother's studio painting and listening to French music.
Making the sometimes difficult, but in her view necessary choice to pursue a career in art, Juliette attended the Florida Institute of Art where she received her degree in Graphic Design. In the past four years, while living in both Rhode Island and most recently Chicago, Juliette took advantage of the opportunities these cities had to offer and attended painting classes at both Rhode Island School of Design and the Chicago Institute of Art.
Currently, Juliette enjoys a promising career as a mural artist. Her style is rich and capricious, and her subject matters always keep a viewer wondering. When asked about her work, Juliette claims there's a story behind every painting, but she feels her goals as an artist are best achieved when "interpretation is left to the imagination." She says, "I want someone to look at one of my paintings and see their own story; maybe something intimate and secretive. I feel a painting is successful when someone takes it personally."
